Please take a moment to read some information about the trial and
then, if you like, you can complete the pre-screening questionnaire.
Study Information
This research trial is for men and women over the age of 35 who
have been diagnosed with advanced widespread emphysema. The purpose
of this trial is to measure the safety and effectiveness of an investigational
treatment in patients with widespread emphysema who have breathlessness
and difficulty performing their usual daily activities.
If the trial doctor determines you are eligible for the trial,
you will receive 6-10 weeks of supervised pulmonary rehabilitation
before undergoing the study treatment procedure. Two out of three
people will get the airway bypass procedure, while one out of three
will be in the control group. After the procedure (no matter which
group you are in) you will stay at least one night in the hospital
for observation. Following the procedure you would again receive
supervised pulmonary rehabilitation for 8-9 weeks. After completing
one year of follow-up, you may be asked to return for additional
yearly visits.
To learn if you qualify to participate in the trial you may complete
our pre-screening questionnaire. This can be done by proceeding
to answer the questions below or, if you like, you can call 866-488-EASE
(3273).
Please read PhoneScreen's Privacy Policy for more
information on how they will restrict the use of the information
you provide (the screening information collected on this website
is maintained by PhoneScreen, not Broncus Technologies.)
Introduction
If you pass this first step of the screening process and you give
your permission, your information will be sent to a study site in
your area. The Study Coordinator at this site will then contact
you to provide additional trial information and discuss your questionnaire
responses in more detail.
Please note that completing the screening questionnaire does NOT
obligate you to participate in the trial. You do not have to answer
any questions that you do not want to.
The pre-screening determines if you are eligible for further screening
at a trial site. The research physician will determine if you are
eligible to participate in the trial after you have completed a
study screening visit and clinical evaluation.
